Case Studies in Infectious Diseases is an undergraduate textbook consisting of forty case studies of the most important human infectious diseases encountered globally. Each case starts with a description of the symptoms of someone infected with the pathogen, followed by text covering the transmission and epidemiology of the pathogen; mechanism of pathogenesis and host response; clinical presentation; diagnosis (including differential diagnosis); and disease management (including prevention). The text is followed by a bullet point summary of this information in the same order, and each case finishes with multiple choice questions, with the answers at the back of the book. The emphasis throughout the book is the integration of microbiology and immunology, making it suitable for undergraduates studying both medicine and science.
